Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils
The botanical purity of the oil is known and the oil is unaltered in any way.
We believe the highest quality of essential oils should always be used.
The following information should be readily available: • Botanical name • Part of the plant used • Country of origin • Extraction process • GC/GLC*, FID*, MS* Testing should be performed on the essential oils. • Essential Oils should be free of pesticides • Essential Oils should be free of synthetics • Essential Oils should be stored in appropriate containers • Essential Oils should be stored at the correct temperature
Accurate analysis of essential oils ought to utilize all techniques available; therefore, GC/GLC, FID & MS testing is done. *• GC or GLC : Gas Chromatography or Gas Liquid Chromatography A measurement tool that is able to vaporize each molecule of the essential oil and quantify the percentage of the constituent present. It DOES NOT tell us what that constituent is. The percentage information is the area under the peak represented on the graph; while the peaks represent the individual constituent. (Individual constituents identified by MS testing) *• FID: Flame Ionization Detection (used in conjunction with Gas Chromatatography) FID provides increased accuracy in the quantitative results specific to GC test information. ****Please note FID testing is NOT necessarily performed by all labs providing GC/GLC testing. *• MS: Mass Spectrometry determines the molecular mass of each molecule, identifying each constituent of the essential oil; each constituent being represented on the graph as a peak.
